Smooth production launched with Hilala Block Pilot Production EPCC Project

After 167 days of hard work, Ethiopia Hilala Block Pilot Production EPCC Project, which was contracted by HBP, started production on June 28, 2018 and produced Ethiopia's first barrel of crude oil.

 

     

The Hilala oil field is located in the Ogaden basin in Ethiopia. In order to evaluate the reservoir characteristics in the block and obtain the geological parameters, GCL-POLY, the owner, plans to conduct trial production on the hilala-6 and hilala-7 well pads. The treatment liquid volume of the trial production unit is 150t/d. Bidding for the project started on January 11, 2018, on-site investigation was conducted on February 1, construction started on March 24, machinery was completed on June 23, and the first barrel of crude oil was produced in Ethiopia on June 28. Yu Baodong, chairman of GCL-Poly, said at the launch ceremony that the project, the first in Ethiopia to produce and sell crude oil, marks the beginning of the country's oil and gas industry's push into resource utilization and market development across the board. Huang Song, chairman of HBP Group, attended the launching ceremony and cut the ribbon.

 

 

 

As the first African project contracted by HBP, the project duration was extremely tight. As the general contractor of professional EPCC for oil and gas engineering, HBP took full advantage of talents, technology, management and capital under the premise of limited project funds and materials, and seriously organized and optimized the EPCC execution strategy, overcame adverse factors brought by the Spring Festival, environmental inspection, Ramadan and others. The project site team overcame the poor conditions of the camp, short project duration, late arrival of materials, lack of materials on site, high temperature rainy season and windy season and other harsh environments, fully carried forward the "Daqing Spirit", worked overtime, fought tenacious, and completed the construction task of the project station in a safe, efficient and high-quality way in advance, created conditions for the project to be put into operation smoothly on June 28 and won the praise of owner and PMC.
 
HBP is actively cooperating with the owners to prepare for the production capacity construction of Hilala oil field and Calub gas field.
